Certified Shredding Offers Another Free Shredding Day October 9th
In an effort to combat identity theft, last April 17, the Certified Shredding Services division of Schaap Records Management teamed up with the Town of Colonie Police Dept. to offer the first ever free shredding day for the general public. On Saturday, October 9, we'll do it again.
"The response was great," said Fred Cole, VP of Schaap Records. Over 150 people took advantage of the free shredding and over 5,000 pounds of paper were destroyed. Chief Heider was on hand to answer identity theft questions and provide literature, and a patrol unit directed traffic.
The event is scheduled to run from 9 AM until 2 PM at the Schaap warehouse at 6 Brown Road. Individuals can bring up to 100 pounds of paper to have shredded and watch it being destroyed in a matter of seconds.
