FREE PAPER SHREDDING
Saturday, April 21, 9 am to 2 pm
Schaap Certified Shredding
On Saturday, April 21, Schaap Certified Shredding, in cooperation with the Town of Colonie Police, will hold their 7th Free Shredding Day. Individuals and not for profit organizations are invited to bring up to 200 pounds of paper to the Schaap facility on Brown Road (off Railroad Ave) between 9 am and 2 pm and have it shredded at no charge. Paperclips and staples are OK, but no bound material will be accepted.
Patrons who want to watch their paper being shredded will be able to watch the Schaap Mobile Shredding Unit at work while the huge Schaap warehouse shredder will be used to shred paper that's just dropped off. All paper is baled and sent directly to mills to be turned into paper again.
Although all shredded paper is recycled, we ask that people bring only paper that must be shredded, and not ask us to shred newspapers or other material that does not contain confidential information. Some examples of paper that sould be shredded include old checks, bank and credit card statements, and any paper that contains a social security number and is no longer needed.
